How much sleep do we really need?

How much sleep do we really need?

We all know sleep is important. Even without knowing any specific studies, we’ve all experienced those mornings when waking up feels like the last thing we want to do. When coffee-fueled days and late nights feel like the norm, it can be hard to imagine changing your routine. But given that we know how it feels when we don’t get enough sleep, it begs the question: how much do we actually need?

While the amount of sleep people need can vary from person to person, most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night according to the National Sleep Foundation. Children and teenagers need even more sleep to support their bodies as they grow and develop, and older people may only require 7-8 hours. Getting the sleep you need is a necessary part of leading a healthy, happy life. Sleeping well can boost your immune system, help prevent weight gain, increase productivity, and put you in a better mood. Given all of that, it seems 8 hours is the sweet spot for most people. That’s a whole third of the day!

Since we (should) spend 8 hours in bed, it is only right that you get your rest in the best place possible. If you compare your mattress to any other tool or thing you invest in, you’ll see our point. If you work at a desk, it’s important that you have a supportive chair. If you work in a hands-on job, it’s important that your equipment is functional and up to date. So, why would the most important apparatus for your rest be any different? With 70 years of expertise in the sleep industry, Milton Sleep Co is perfectly equipped to fulfill your rest needs for all 8 hours and beyond - all for a price that will help you sleep easy, too.
