Rising Temperatures is Making it Harder to Sleep: What to Do

It’s a well-known fact that your bedroom temperature has a large impact on how well you sleep at night.

We recommend keeping your house set to 68 degrees F, if you can. If not, check out our 5 Tips to Sleep Cool Without Cranking Your A/C for ideas like taking a lukewarm shower before bed.

It’s already difficult enough to get to sleep. Now a new study is saying it’s getting even harder.

And there’s not a whole lot you can do to prevent it.

Why You May Have Trouble Sleeping

The study found that as temps around the globe warm up, your ability to sleep is going down.

A team of scientists collected data from 125,295 participants across 41 countries using a sleep apnea detector placed under the mattress. What they found is people were 45% more likely to have a sleep apnea episode once a night where temperatures are increasing.

In other words, they were more likely to momentarily stop breathing for a short period once a night.

In terms of real life impact, the researchers calculated the a significant decrease in the number of healthy years as well as a decrease in their overall productivity.

But all hope is not lost.

How to Stay Cool at Night

If you have sleep apnea, you need to get assistance from a doctor. This is the best way to be able to help you. A mattress cannot cure sleep apnea.

You don't have control over the temperature outside your house, so you need to control the temperature where and when you can.

Obviously, you can turn on your A/C or add a few fans. But, there's another area that can have an impact on how you feel throughout the night: your mattress. After all, your body directly interacts with your mattress with all the body heat you're constantly putting off.

So it’s more important now than ever to make sure your bed is equipped with the best cooling technology.

Our most popular mattress, the Lometa, features our patented CoolTouch Cover™. When you touch it, you'll immediately feel the cool embrace and experience elevated comfort.

Plus, since carbon helps channel heat away from your body, the Charcoal Activated Carbon Memory Foam helps keep your body cool throughout the night and provides soothing neck and back support.

Find a store near you to experience the Lometa firsthand.
