Reports to: Plant Supervisor

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Assembles mattresses using established work instructions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembles mattress units per established work instructions using a variety of pneumatic tools (e.g. c-ring hog-ring guns, staple guns, hot melt glue guns); application of various, specified upholstered layers to open coil units; foam-encased pocketed coil units; application of specified upholstery layers; and final mattress assembly
  • Reload gun as needed and changes locators on table to accommodate different size frames
  • Inspect mattress components and finished units for unacceptable flaws or structural defects and performs repairs or reject as needed
  • Be able to read tag and other documentation
  • Perform all duties according to established safety and efficiency procedures
  • Must be able to meet production goals according to established guidelines
  • Report issues or problems with production process to immediate supervisor
  • Perform other duties as designated by a supervisor or manager
  • Must be willing to cross train across multiple jobs and/or departments

JOB FACTORS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors of minimum of 8 hours per shift
  • Must be able to move mattresses to the assembly line that weigh up to 75 lbs (heavy loads over 75 LBS must be team lifted)
  • Ability to work and adapt to a changing work environment (examples, hot, cold, noise and around odors).
  • Must be able to wear required PPE

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Basic English reading/writing skills required
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in factory/warehouse setting highly desirable

  • Ability and willingness to work safely
  • Maintains work area safe and clean
  • Must be willing to participate in CI activities if needed
  • Must be able to work overtime as required

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience with pneumatic tools and/or in a manufacturing environment preferred
